

Billy Norman West (Bill), 86, of Birmingham,AL, died in his home after a long battle with dementia on February 27, 2026. He was born in Hodges, AL and raised in Tuscumbia where he went to Deshler High School and met his high school/forever sweetheart, Kay Killian. They were married in 1958, and shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. They moved to Birmingham, AL, then to Orlando, FL and finally retired back at home in Birmingham, AL. He had a very successful career in selling commercial swimming pools. He was very proud of his work, especially a pool he sold to Atlanta for the Olympics. He also got to work with Bear Bryant and his wife on a pool for their home. He was a hard worker, but always took time for his family, and his favorite sport,Golf! He absolutely loved golf, and was very good at it. He played every chance he got and was known to beat most of the people he played! He loved his family deeply and was a generous, gentle, kind, patient, hard working and loving man who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his mom, Minerva Osborn (Arthur) and 2 brothers Don West (Annette) and Roy West (Jan). He is survived by his loving wife Kay, his 3 children, Melanie Benton (Jim), Steve West (Susan) and Ashley Henderson (Johnathan). He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

There will be a Visitation Monday, March 9, 2026 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. There will be a Celebration of Life Service Monday, March 9, 2026 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel at 2:00 PM with Inurnment in the Elmwood Mausoleum following the Chapel Service.
