Bobby Owens

Bobby Owens, age 92, of Cropwell, Alabama passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. Bobby Eugene Owens, “G-Bob” (Granddaddy Bobby) age 92 of Birmingham, AL passed away on June 5th. He was a devoted husband for 63 years to his late wife, Anita.

He was a retired metal fabricator having worked at General Steel Tank Co., Transall, Guin Service and Continental Electric after attending Woodlawn High School.

He was an active member and Deacon at West Woodlawn Baptist Church for many years and until Anita’s illness was an active member of First Baptist Church Chalkville and the Jay Pitt Sunday School Class. He and Anita started the Nursing Home and Homebound Ministry there and were very active until they themselves became homebound.

He restored his 1979 F-100 and he and Anita enjoyed travelling around to car shows and cruise-ins for years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janie Rager Owens; his sister Sue Bryan and brother J.G.; his beloved grandparents, John and Pearlie Owens; and nephews, Brett Alan Sharpe and David Michael Bryan.

He is survived by their only child, Pam Owens of Cropwell (Terry Knight); his grandson, Jeffery Owens Knight (Christin); great grandchildren, Lucy Sunshine Knight, Henry Wiley Owens Knight, and Thomas Finley Knight of Homewood, AL; nephews, Randy Bryan of FL; Steve Bryan of AL; Terry Lynn Sharpe (Regina) of TN; brother and sister-in-law, C. Lynn Sharpe (Judy) of TN.

The family would like to thank Nicolas (Nick) Venezia of Cavalier Healthcare for his patience, knowledge, professionalism, expertise, attentiveness and hands-on approach to patient care. He always was up to date of the current situation or problem and had an effective plan in place. He always made himself available whether by cell phone or unexpected visit to his office. We are thankful for his presence and leadership during this emotional and stressful time. His advice was often sought and was always insightful. His entire team did a wonderful job in every aspect of patient care and went above and beyond. Their personal approach and obvious affection was obvious and so very much appreciated.

A celebration of life gathering for Bobby will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
