

Harrison, Calvin H., 88 went to be with his Lord on Monday, January 24, 2011. Mr. Harrison was born and grew up in Montevallo. He began his 35 year service to his country during World War II, serving in the South Pacific and the (Battle of Attu) and continued through the Korean War and the Viet Nam War attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After his active duty, Calvin was a teacher at Glenn High School as the Carpentry instructor and later became the Director of Carpenter Apprentice Training Program for the City of Birmingham. Calvin was a member of the 66th Street Baptist Church and was attending The Healing Place in Trussville. He is survived by two sons, Jackson and Matthew Harrison, two daughters, Laura Cannon, Jacquelyn H. Warnock (Donald), six grandchildren, Scott Cannon, Candice Warnock, Andrea Warnock Freeman (Derek), Skylar Harrison, Lillian M. Harrison, Lucas H. Harrison, one great-grandchild, Oliviah Freeman, a brother-in-law, David Gardner, a sister-in-law, Margie Gardner and several nieces and nephews. Pastor Randy Smith will officiate the funeral service on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with burial following at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
