Cecil Edward Hanks, Sr., age 86, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lois Snider Hanks; daughters Cheryl (Buddy) O’Neal, Debra Cannon and son Cecil Edward “Rusty” Hanks, Jr; grandchildren Melissa (Keith) Farley, Eric (Heather) O’Neal, Brady Hanks, Britney (CJ) Burdette, Colby Cannon and Brantley (Alisha) Hanks; 5 great- grandchildren Jackson and Langdon Farley, Camden Hanks, Lucas O’Neal and Avery Burdette; and many nieces and nephews. Cecil attended West End High School, served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and retired from Shook & Fletcher Heating & Air Conditioning. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge 79 and Squires Chapter BFC. Cecil was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He left a lasting impression on everyone whose life he touched. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, from 5-7 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, mass to be held on Thursday, February 14, at 10 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Roebuck, with burial following in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
