She was born on December 15, 1957, to Cecil and Evelyn Allen of Alabaster, AL and is survived by her loving husband, Bill Baker, her sons Josh Baker (Allie) and John William Baker (Haley), sister Joy Harris (Tom), and brother Skipper Allen (Suzie). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and her grandchildren Hattie and Emmett, who were great joys to her - often helping sustain her with their precious and joyful presence.
The youngest in her family, Cecile always had Joy and Skip in her corner. She attended Thompson High School and made lifelong friends there. Later, she became a member of First Baptist Church Alabaster, where she loved serving and being involved in Bible Studies. In 1991 she fell in love with and married Bill. She had a true zeal for life and she and Bill shared many adventures from visiting National Parks to being on the water with friends and family at the lake or beach. Her home was a true gathering place, and you could always stop by for good conversations and laughter, a spread of food, and often the fellowship of others who had also dropped by! Cecile embodied the verse, "Let your gentleness be evident to all" (Philippians 4:5) and her family will greatly miss her loving presence, her encouraging faith, her unwavering positive attitude, and her sweet smile.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20th from 5-7pm at First Baptist Church Alabaster, and a Funeral Service on Friday, February 21st at 2pm, also at First Baptist.
Her family extends a humbling and heartfelt thank you to those who loved Cecile so well. Many of you battled with her in prayer, walked 5ks in her honor, or came alongside her with encouragement. Above all, we thank God for allowing us to have her in our presence and in our arms for the time that we did. We can't wait to see her again.
