

Boots, after an extended illness, entered the Lord's rest on January 26, 2019. She was born in Fairfield, Alabama as the daughter of the late Charles A. Allen and the late Martha Chapman Allen. She was also predeceased by sisters, Martha Virginia Gillespie and Gwendolyn Kay Dennis. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Robert (Bob) W. Jennings; sons, Robert W. Jennings Jr., Charles R. Jennings, Barry Karl Jenning and daughter, Jan. A. Lalor (Rick) as well as a number of grandchild and great grandchildren. After graduation from Fairfield High School, she attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. In February of 1952, she and Bob were married and lived in Birmingham until she joined Bob in Frankfort, Germany where he served in the U.S. Army of Occupation. While in Germany, they traveled to many European countries. Later she resided of Clearwater, Florida and Medford, N.J. where golf became her favorite sport. Returning to Birmingham in 1982, she honed her bridge skills and advanced to upper levels of competition while winning many tournaments. Boots loved her church and was a member of "The Loving Class" of Lakeside Baptist Church, who tirelessly ministered to her during her long illness. Special thanks are also due her loving Christian caregiver, Contessa Johnson. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday January 31, 2019 with service to follow at 11:00 AM . After conclusion of the chapel service, the family will have a private burial at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the building fund of Lakeside Baptist Church.
