Charles Releford Ray III

Mr. Ray was born on November 7, 1957, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Releford Ray, Jr. Charles grew up in Birmingham and was a proud Banks High School Jet. He served his country honorably. He was a “Phantom” crew chief in the Alabama Air National Guard during peace time and was also a proud member of the 117th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Ray, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Ray, and his sister, Naomi Ray. He is survived by his wife, Dawn; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Jennifer) R. Ray, IV; his granddaughter, Anna Katherine Taylor, his siblings Sara Hanchey and John C. Ray; his father and mother-in-law, William O. (Liz) Hilburn, III; his brother and sister-in-law, William Otis (Tess) Hilburn, IV.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham, Alabama 35235. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Forest Hill Cemetery, 431 60th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35212.
