

BROWN, RUTH MARLOW, age 90 of Birmingham, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Lewis Marlow and Edwin Martin Brown; and daughters, Rebecca Marlow and Jackie Hamilton. She is survived by her daughter, Billie Barber (Glenn); son-in-law, Robert Hamilton; grandchildren, Kim Calma (Steven), Alison Vann (Chuck), Jeff Hamilton, Brian Hamilton (Jennifer) and Debbie Elliott (Thomas); great-grandchildren, Jacob Calma, Dylan Bell, Cooper Vann, Claire Hamilton, Carson Hamilton, Rachel Elliot, Wiley Elliott and Lillie Elliott; and sister, Betty Summerford. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and member of Green Valley Baptist Church. She was a committed patron of the Southeastern Shrine Association and actively participated in many civic activities. She was a Young at Heart member, as well as, The Club, Hoover Service Club, Zamora Ladies, Woodlawn Class of 1941/1942, CSX Luncheon Club and Alabama Organ Society. She and her husband co-owned The Coffee Shop and Marlow’s Restaurants in Tarrant City. Her family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 10-11 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. There will be a graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery beginning at 11:30.
