Debbie was a graduate of Collinsville High School in 1970. As a young child, Debbie was a Girl Scout, candy striper volunteer nurse, a member of the 4H and FHA club, and played the saxophone in her high school band. Debbie loved being a mother to many. Her home was always opened to anyone who needed to be fed or hugged. She was a huge “ballpark” mom and her children’s biggest fan. Debbie loved the Sunnyside, Florida beach house, seashells, birds, Braves baseball, the USA, and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Debbie graduated from Caraway School of Nursing as a registered nurse (RN) in 1973. She worked at Children’s of Alabama, was a visiting nurse, worked in home healthcare, worked at Alabama Medical Review and ended her nursing career at UAB Hospital. Debbie was always helping and nurturing family, friends, and her patients.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Wayne Veitch of 53 years. She had two daughters - Jennifer Clark (Bill) of Morris, AL and Julie Scott (Chad) of Tunica, MS. Debbie is also survived by her brother Tommy Siniard. Her grandchildren are as follows: Kimberly, Lexi, Collin, Walker, Kenna, Thomasina, James, Carley, Len, Morgan, and Ashleigh. She also has a host of great grandchildren.
Debbie is proceeded in death by her son Jim Veitch.
The funeral will be held at John-Ridout’s Mortuary and Chapel on Tuesday, April 30. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 with the service beginning at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery.
