Doris Barnes Cooper

Wednesday, September 16, 2020. She was born on February 13th,

1928 in Bibb County, Alabama and was married to her sweetheart,

Robert “ Bob” Cooper, for 65 years. After retiring from American

Educators Insurance, she and Bob enjoyed camping with the Cheaha

Good Sam’s Club and traveling with the Senior Adult Ministry

of Shades Mountain Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie E. Barnes and Lula

Belle (Fox) Barnes; brothers Elbert, Jesse, Fonza, Johnny, and Vance;

sisters Zada, Laverta, Della, Mary, Ruby Bell, and Nettie.

She is survived by her three children, Sandra (Lin) Allen, Robert Lynn

(Robin) Cooper, Pam (Barry) Alford; six grandchildren, and 14 greatgrandchildren.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always

positive and delightful and considered others’ feelings before her own.

She will be dearly missed.

The family is so appreciative of the staff at Town Village Independent

Living. She loved her friends there and all the good times playing

bingo, SkipBo, and dominoes. We are very grateful for the loving care

the Right at Home staff and caregivers gave her the last couple of

years.

The family plans a graveside service officiated by Reverend Pat

Buckner on Saturday, September 19th at 2:00pm.
