Doris Marie Strickland

Strickland, Doris Marie age 82 of Birmingham, AL went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2013. A sweet, loving mother and grandmother, she was adored by her family and friends. A faithful servant of the Lord, she was a member of Glen Iris Baptist Church. After her retirement from Social Security Administration she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Massey Byrd; sister, Lorraine Cantrell; brother, Ben Byrd. Doris is survived by her children, Denise (Dr. Alan) Goodson, Barbara (Joe) Fowler, and David (Lorraine) Strickland; grandchildren, Lauren Goodson (Joshua) Moore, and Jonathan Fowler; sisters, Ruth Thomas, and Betty Byrd, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 3:30 PM at Walkers Chapel Cemetery. The family wishes to thank her physicians, Dr. Michael Brewer, Dr. Luigi Bertoli, Dr. Elizabeth Barron, and Dr. Mack Barnes for their compassionate care.
