Eleanor S. Jackson

August 14, 1931 – October 24, 2015

Mary Eleanor Stanley Jackson passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John James Jackson; her mother, Esther Mize Stanley; brother, Edward Stanley and sister, Cecilia Webb. Eleanor is survived by her two daughters, Susan Norton (Philip) and Sharon Jackson; two sisters, Jimmie Ann Holman and Deborah Ramsey; brother-in-law, Milford Jackson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor graduated from St. Clair County High School where she was a cheerleader. She worked for Alabama Power Company as a keypunch operator prior to her marriage. She was a homemaker when her girls were young and went back to work at the Birmingham Housing Authority until her retirement in 1979 – 2 weeks before Sharon graduated from college.

Eleanor was a member of Huffman Baptist Church, and a past member of the Birmingham Beautification Board and the Coterie Club.

Funeral service will be Thursday October 29, 2015 at Huffman Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Smith officiating, interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel Wednesday evening October 28, 2015 from 6 until 8 PM.

Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She will be missed greatly.
