Eugene Odom

Odom, Eugene, age 89 of Springville, AL went peacefully and fearlessly home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2013. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Meredith.

He is survived by his children Toni Barnett (George), Dale (Tina) Odom, Terri (David) Roberson, Danni Odom-Winn (Bruce) and Rance Odom; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Mr. Odom retired from the Birmingham News, was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the Springville VFW. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Springville for 55 years where he lovingly and faithfully service as Deacon. He also enjoyed serving as a Gideon speaker in numerous churches and distributing Gideon bibles. He was a lifelong fan and supporter of the Auburn Tigers.

Mr. Odom was known throughout the area for his generous and hospitable spirit. He will be missed by many.

Funeral service will be Tuesday June 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Springville with interment to follow in Douglas Cemetery in Douglas, Al at 1:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening June 24, 2013 from 5 until 8 P.M.
