Eunice Mason Walters, a loving wife, mother and sister, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2020. She lived to the age of 102 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilson and her parents Samuel and Ruth (Jacobs) Mason. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Sam (Cindy), Jim (Robin) and Allen (Lori). Other survivors include her brother Frank Mason in addition to several nieces and nephews.
Eunice was born March 11, 1917. She graduated from Phillips High School. She was a charter member of TOPS AL#159 since 1970. For many, many years she enjoyed attending the TOPS weekly meetings and annual conventions. She was very dutiful in calling and/or sending birthday cards to friends and family. Eunice also enjoyed “sharing some jokes” and reading John Grisham books.
The Walters family would like to thank caregiver Nancy Meyer for her faithful assistance and support of Eunice in her final years.
Visitation will be at Johns-Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on January 30, 2020 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM, with a celebration of her life to follow at 2:00PM in the maple room and graveside at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given to the Humane Society, American Heart Association or First Methodist Church Downtown.
