

Born September 21,1925, she was preceded in death by her parents; James and Ava Duncan Elkins, her husband; Robert Cornelius Wilson,brother; Robert Elkins, and sister; Ann Cobb.
She is survived by her children; Linda Haley (Ray), Debbie Wilson, Robert Wilson Jr., and Susan Johnson (Chuck), as well as her beloved grandchildren; Wil Johnson (Chelsea), Kate Haley, Gracie Burns (Ryan),
Micah Haley, Josiah Haley, Nathaniel Haley, and Christian Johnson. The great joys of her later years were her much-loved great grandchildren:Clark, Shepard, and Graham Burns, and Jane Rose Johnson.
A 1942 graduate of Woodlawn High School, Eva also attended Howard College and was a life-long Auburn fan, having graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1948. She enjoyed her work and relationships at the Social Security Administration for 51 years and loved her friends and the staff at Vestavia Hills Methodist Church.
A brilliant woman and tenacious bargain shopper, Eva was known for her quiet, uncomplaining, and kind spirit. Undeterred by earning a D in Home Economics, she spent a lifetime delightfully hosting her family and friends through the convenience of restaurants and take out food. Her generosity in meeting her family’s needs was unparalleled.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at the chapel of Vestavia Hills Methodist Church on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 1:30PM. Visitation is at 12:30 PM. A graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at 3:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Food Pantry at Vestavia Hills Methodist Church, 2061 Kentucky Avenue, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216.
