Faye Smith Miller

Shirley Faye Smith Miller of Pleasant Grove, Al went home to heaven on April 21, 2026 after bravely and courageously facing Alzheimer's disease. Awaiting her in Glory were her husband, Johnny William Miller, her father Kenneth James Smith, her mother Kate Gandy Smith and her beloved “second” mother, Elizabeth Wilson.

Faye was born on February 20,1935 in Birmingham, Alabama. She grew up in West End before moving to Pleasant Grove, Alabama in 1962. She lived in Pleasant Grove until her passing.

Her life was blessed by many wonderful neighbors in her Princeton Ave (West End) and Pleasant Grove neighborhoods of Ninth Court and Fifth Place.

Faye was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove. She loved so many people in this fellowship. Working in the church daycare for years, “Mrs Faye” loved and was loved by many families.

Faye is survived by her daughter Marcia Miller Patrick (Mike), her son Kenneth John “Bubba” Miller, her granddaughters Katherine Patrick Metz (Jonathan) and Sarah Patrick Callahan (Jake). Her great-grandchildren Emma Katherine Metz , Savannah Metz, Jack Metz and Margaret Louise Callahan.

Faye was also an outstanding dog mother to Dixie, Cricket, Cassie, Bogey, Lucy, Lily and Millie. An avid walker, she recorded countless miles as she took her neighborhood walks.

Her life on earth was greatly enriched by many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Especially precious to Faye were the years playing school, beauty parlor, Play Doh and backyard games with her granddaughters during their childhood visits.

Faye was a thrift store warrior and coupon cutter. She had little love for the material things of life. She was the definition of a people person, never, never meeting a stranger. People were her joy in life.

Her family would like to thank Allie with ACG Hospice for providing exceptional care, nor are there words to adequately thank Tina and Ethel for their care of our mother. They were the blessing of all blessings. The “ centerpiece” of her later years was Brother Johnny Brock and the WGIB Midday Music Family. Faye was a faithful listener. We love you all for the joy you gave her.

Shirley Faye Smith Miller was very much loved and will be missed. Above all else, she loved her Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart.
