
Florence S. Mullins, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Friday December 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Mullins, Sr. Florence was a member of Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Trussville. During World War II, she was one of the many “Rosie The Riveter”, repairing combat damaged aircrafts. She met her husband during this time on a blind date and began their life together making a good home for their growing family. She was a very active homemaker who enjoyed quilting and baking. Well known for her “Mamaw’s” homemade cookies that she sold and gave away, she made sure that there were plenty to go around including the Atlanta Falcon football team. She also supported the Disabled Veteran’s and was a breast cancer survivor.
Mrs. Mullins is survived by one son Cecil R. Mullins, Jr.; daughters Joyce Spencer (Joe), Barbara Morgan, Sherry Novotny (Ray) and Suzanne Boren; brother Roy Sauvageau (Kathy): sisters Clarice Held (Harvey) and Adel Walker; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday December 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. The funeral service will be Sunday At 3:00 PM with a Rosary to follow. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Jonesboro, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, she would have wanted a donation to be made to Magic Moments, a wish granting organization that has benefitted her great-grandson as many other local children. Donations can be made to magicmoments.org.
