
Frances Raymond Snyder Keith Date of Birth: 02-03-1919 Frances was a member of, and when able, attended Southside Baptist Church. She was married to Justin Keith for over 60 years at the time of his death in 2007. Parents: Raymond Snyder and Ethel Wayne Deason – Deceased Sisters: Flora Wayne David and Ethel Rose Nuce – Deceased Brother: Robert Cecil Snyder - Deceased Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Graduated from Ramsey High School – 1937 Yearbook Art Editor Her yearbook statement was “To make it possible for women to reach the same heights in the arts as men.” – And THAT SHE DID! In high school she won The Nationwide art contest with a portrait she painted of a high school friend. This portrait hung in Rockefeller Center in New York and in Paris France and then toured around the world. After high school she worked at Ramsey as an art teacher’s assistant. While working, she studied art under A.L. Barnsfather and studied music and piano at the Birmingham School of Music. She worked as a medical illustrator for the Jefferson County Health Department and the Old Hillman Hospital for Dr. Dan Donnelly. She went into pre-med at Hillman Hospital and helped to start the medical school we now know as UAB. She gave up medical studies and went into Engineering. She was the first female to be hired in the engineering department at TCI. She worked at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville in the middle of the space age and at Hayes Aircraft. Frances loved classical piano, Christian Harmony singing and the Deason Family Reunions and, last but not least, her beloved dogs.
