A lifelong resident of Birmingham, Alabama, Frank was born on October 4, 1943, to the late Frank Lewis Saunders and Maxine Turner Saunders.. Frank was a proud graduate of Ramsay High School and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Guam. Frank built a successful career in Information Technology at EBSCO Industries
Frank was a man of many passions. A lifelong and devoted Alabama football fan, he loved cheering them on every fall Saturday. He was also a passionate collector—of vinyl records, antiques, clocks, and various treasures that told stories of the past. His home was a reflection of his appreciation for history, music, and craftsmanship. But more than his hobbies, Frank will be remembered for his sharp wit, generous spirit, and the deep love he held for his family and friends.
Frank’s legacy lives on through his beloved children: Jennifer Saunders, Frank Saunders III, and Carlin Saunders. He is also survived by his dear sister, Melanie Hightower; nieces Donna Parrish, Melissa Neal, Linnea Looney, and Cindy Wilson; and cousins Steve Turner and Judi Krueger. Each of them carries forward his memory, his humor, and his heart. He will be missed more than words can express, but his spirit will remain with all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel on Friday, August 8, 2025 beginning at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum at 2:00 pm.
