Frederick Jerome Ramsey Sr.

Jerome was born December 14,1931 in Birmingham, Alabama ( Collegeville) to the late Robert Ramsey and Mary Ramsey Thomas, and was the youngest of four children. In his younger years, he worked at Chrysler plant in Detroit, Michigan for approximately 12 years. After his tenure at the Chrysler plant, he returned to Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Booker T. Washington Business College to start his career in Insurance. During this time, he was employed with AG Gaston Insurance Company, Protective Insurance Company, and Prudential Insurance Company, where he was awarded with many managerial awards.

Throughout his life, Jerome was known for his iconic fashion styles; in earlier years, his signature look included hats, suits, and Stacey Adams footwear. During his golden years, he coined fedora hats, sunglasses, and scarves. According to him, one of his most notable accomplishments was hosting the bi-annual 1996 Ramsey Family Reunion in Montgomery, Alabama, where he was proud to be “Passing the Torch to the Next Generation”.

Jerome is survived by five children (and their spouses): Frederick Jerome Ramsey, Jr. (Sandra), Marcia Elaine Ramsey Smith (Eddie), Heather Ramsey Moore (Larry), Mia Ramsey Greer (Larry), Amina K. Ramsey, and daughter-in-law Christina Ramsey.

Sixteen grandchildren (and their spouses): Qwiyauna Coleman (Marvin), Shimada Ramsey, Kedrick Ramsey (Demetria), William Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Brittany Ramsey, Bernard Ramsey, Lloydia Ramsey, Erica Ramsey, Secret Mitchell, Arreona Mitchell, Lauren Ramsey-Bois (Jon), Jessica Hooper, Christina Watts (Jermichael), Ryan Watts, and Cornelius Jerome (CJ) Watts.

Along with a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
