George N. Sarris fell asleep in the Lord on December 15, 2014. Born in Greece on July 14, 1944, George had immigrated to the United States with his mother, father, and three brothers in 1966. He brought with him the culinary skills he learned from his father who had been a chef to the last King of Greece. The restaurants he opened and operated in the Birmingham area over the years became landmarks known for fine food and friendly service. His ready smile and his warm hospitality complimented the fine food that George was proud to serve. George was preceded in death by his father Nick Sarris and his mother Vasso Sarris. He is survived by his three brothers Manoli (Helen), Kosta (Tricia), and Angelo (Ruth); by his two step sons, Frankie and Vincent Sarris; and by a great many friends who will miss him.
We lost a dear friend. Services will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Birmingham, AL at 1:00 on Saturday, December 20th.
