Gerald D Bradford

Born 1/15/1935 - Died 10/1/2013

Mr. Bradford passed away at home surrounded by family after a long and valiant fight with Alzheimer's disease. Mr. Bradford is preceded in death by his wife, Betty T. Bradford; mother, Lisala T. Bradford; and father, Paul E. Bradford, Sr. He is survived by his son, Gerald D. Bradford, Jr. (Patti); daughter, Amy L. Jones (Fred); son, Kerry L. Bradford; son, Kevin S. Bradford (Kerri); 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many extended family members, and a host of friends.

After graduating from the University of Alabama with a degree in civil engineering Mr. Bradford served with the US Coast and Geodetic Survey. After leaving the USCGS, Mr. Bradford went to work for the Alabama Power Company where he worked for 30 ½ years until retiring in February of 1990. Mr. Bradford started Bradford Engineering, Inc. and built it into a successful business.

Mr. Bradford participated in the Seniors Ministry with his wife, Betty, at the Trussville Nursing Home and later at the Golden Springs Nursing Home.

Mr. Bradford was a volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was a leader with Pack and Troop 216 and worked as part of the district leader training team. He earned troop leader awards and his Woodbadge beads and was awarded the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver awards.

Funeral service will be Saturday October 5, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening October 4, 2013 from 6 until 8.
