

Born in New York to the late Strauther and Lucille Carmichael, Gloria lived a life full of adventure, devotion, and culinary delights, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Gloria was a graduate of Bessemer High School. Her professional life saw her excel as a dedicated accountant for Bellsouth, Wiscomb Southern, and Tin Man Roofing, demonstrating her keen mind and strong work ethic.
She shared a remarkable 74-year marriage with her devoted husband, James A. Albright. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family, raising six children who brought them immense joy. Gloria's legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring love and the rich life she lived.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Gloria was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Talladega, Alabama, and later Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama. She also found great camaraderie and spiritual enrichment as a member of Women of the Well, a Christian women’s group, and served her community as library president in Lincoln, Alabama.
Gloria had an adventurous spirit and a passion for travel, visiting all 50 states, as well as venturing to Europe, Asia, Scotland, and Mexico. When she wasn't exploring new horizons, she found joy in the quiet beauty of her yard, the lake, and the warmth of her kitchen. Known far and wide for her incredible Italian dishes, Gloria’s cooking was a testament to her love and generosity, always bringing family and friends together around a table laden with delicious food and laughter. Above all, Gloria loved her family dearly, and her devotion to them was evident in every aspect of her life.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Kristen Glover; her daughter-in-law, Debra Albright; her brother, Allen Carmichael; her sister, Jeannine Scott, and her brother-in-law, Tommy Scott, as well as her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, James A. Albright of Bessemer, Alabama; her sons, Rick Albright of Fairfield, Alabama, Jerry Albright (Carol) of Mobile, Alabama, and David Albright (Jenny) of Remlap, Alabama; and her daughters, Brenda Pharo (Eddie) of Hoover, Alabama, Cathy Kidd of Hoover, Alabama, and Janet Glover (Donny) of Hoover, Alabama. Gloria also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jennifer Babbitt (Jeff), Ellen Albright, Rusty Albright (Katie), Jessica Dumas (Tim), Ben Albright (Lori), Jacob Albright, Jason Pharo (Lindsay), Shawn Pharo, Lauren Guthrie (Josh) , Patrick Kidd (Christina), Megan Traffanstedt (Mitch), Sara Kidd, Eric Kidd (LaShayla), Jami Jennings (Russ), and Amanda Grace Brady (Alan). She is also survived by her brother, Steve Carmichael (Lynn) of Riverside, Alabama; her sister, Rosalia Giattina (Joe) of Homewood, Alabama; and her sister-in-law, Linda Carmichael of Prattville, Alabama.
A visitation will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM. The committal service will take place afterward at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Pharo, Jason Pharo, Rusty Albright, Ben Albright, Jacob Albright, Patrick Kidd, and Eric Kidd.
Gloria's warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be a blessing.
