Hazel Hollis Wheeler, 92, went home to be with God on July 4, 2016. She was the second of eight children born to Isiah and Virgie Hollis. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Charles Edwin Wheeler. She is survived by her children, Cathy Jo Wheeler Tate (David) and Terri Pepper (Hal) and her grandchildren, Jenna and April Pepper.
Hazel was a faithful member of Edwards Lake Church of Christ. She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, homemaker, cook and seamstress and was known for her chocolate pies. She delighted in taking care of her family and friends.
A beautifully written tribute by her granddaughter, Jenna, describes her perfectly. “Today the world lost the most beautiful soul I have ever known, but she won the victory she spent her life working towards. Words can’t express how much I will miss my amazing grandmother. I hope to be half the lady she was. She was the picture of love, selflessness, generosity, gentleness, and grace. She loved God and others fiercely and never, ever put herself first."
