Helen McFarlen Dickmann (Nanny), 78, a resident of Springville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 22, 2022. Helen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wesley Dickmann; Brother, Bob McFarlen; Son, Tony Annerton (Patty); Son, Eddie Annerton; Daughter, Lisa Rayburn (Al); Daughter Susan Hudgins (Michael); 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Helen was born to Edgar and Pauline McFarlen in Huntsville, Alabama on August 28, 1943. She attended Huntsville schools, and later graduated from Calhoun Community College with a nursing degree. While she was proud of the accomplishment of earning a college degree, she was prouder of her role as a wife and mother! She spent her last week on earth proclaiming her faith and professing her love to her family! One word that could describe Helen is “unashamed.” She was unashamed of always coordinating her husband’s outfit to match hers, unashamed of talking about – rather bragging about – her grandchildren to anyone who would listen, but most importantly, she was unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She would frequently share her faith on an elevator with a stranger, in a restaurant with a server, or at an estate sale with whoever she could snag walking by. We witnessed on many occasions her knack for talking to complete strangers and getting them to talk to her! As teenagers, we were extremely embarrassed, by these encounters, and wanted her to just keep walking! However, as her adult children, we are beyond proud of the faith legacy she has left us. A funeral service for Helen will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 with a visitation from 2pm - 3pm and the funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM at Crosspoint Church, 800 Liles Lane, Trussville, AL 35173.
