Helen Bradford Wier, age 86, died on February 21, 2017. She was a resident of Alexian Village, Signal Mountain, where she lived for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Annie Mae Bradford and her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Wier. She is survived by two children, Angela J. Wier and K. Bradford Wier (Patti); three grandchildren, Scott, Seth, and Rachel; one sister Jane Nicholas (William Lee). She was a charter member of Huffman Presbyterian Church which is now Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church. Helen loved her church family and through the years served as deacon, elder, and President of the women of the church. She was a graduate of Samford University. She worked at the UAB Medical School, taught in Birmingham City Schools and later worked part-time in the Birmingham Public Library System. “Honey” was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, who cherished her family and was especially adored by her grandchildren. A Memorial Celebration of Life was held in Tennessee Saturday. Her Committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
