Howard P. Jackson, Jr. age 94, of Birmingham, AL passed away on June 23, 2018. He was born on March 18, 1924 in Atlanta, GA to Howard P. Jackson Sr. and Hattie Vivian Jackson. He graduated from Emory University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After serving in the Navy, he opened “Howard Jackson Ice Cream” an ice cream store.
Howard later started doing business with S.T. Jerrell Company. He later became the president of the company in 1962. In May of 1962, he married the love of his life, Doris Jerrell Ingram. Howard attended Mountain Brook Baptist Church. He was a member of ROMEOS ( Retired Old Men Eating Out) and Regents Dance Club.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Jerrell Jackson; sons, Ed Jackson (Phyllis) , Jerry Jackson (Carolyn) and Roy Jackson (Lesa) of Birmingham, AL; sister, Jan Gorman (Milton) of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Wednesday June 27, 2018 from 10:00 -11:00 AM at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11:00. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be make to Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
