Ira Dean Franklin was born November 7, 1918 and passed away January 24, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Franklin, Sr: her son, Terry L. Franklin: her mother, Maude Prichard: her sister, Annice Rickenbaker; and daughter-in-law, Marty Franklin. She is survived by her sons, Jim Franklin and Benjamin Clayton Franklin (Jane); her grandchildren, Wendy Franklin, Martha Driggers (Bryant), Jamie Hansard (Rodney), Eric Franklin (Traci) and Iralyn Sumerel (Clarke) and 10 great-grandchildren. She retired from Federal Civil Service and was a longtime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She was known lovingly as “Granny” to all and her homemade, crochet afghans and baby blanket are prized possessions of family and friends.
