She was born on April 18, 1947 in Tuscaloosa to Fred Hubbard Britton Jr. and Mary Penruddocke Britton. Mrs. White was raised in Birmingham and graduated from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She was a beloved parishioner of St. Mary's-On-the-Highlands Episcopal Church and spent many years teaching pre-kindergarten at Saint Luke's Day School. She loved teaching young children, and after her retirement, volunteered reading to students at Birmingham City Schools.
Mrs. White is survived by her daughter, Katie White, her son, John Mark White Jr. (Rachel), and her sister, Mary Britton Bowling (Rod).
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mary's-On-the-Highlands Episcopal Church on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 2:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Better Basics Books for Birmingham and St. Mary's-on-the-Highlands.
