

J. Howard Estes, November 30, 1926 – October 21, 2013. Howard Estes, age 86 of Birmingham, Alabama passed away October 21, 2013 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born to the late James A. Estes and Dorthula Drummond Estes in Sipsey, Alabama and raised in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Jack Estes. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean, daughter Paula Jean Estes McDavid, son Joe Howard Estes (Cici), brother Jimmy Estes (Rose), sister June Bryson, grandchildren Jake Bryant Estes, Tyler Joe Estes and Danielle Barbaree McDavid. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
Howard served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the South Pacific during WWII. After being discharged from the military, he returned to Birmingham and went into the dry cleaning business. He expanded his business and owned several establishments over a 60 year span. He and Jean were baptized Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1956. He served his congregation as a Ministerial Servant. He was dedicated to his faith and believed strongly in Bible truths and promises. He enjoyed sharing his faith with others and helping them learn what the Bible really teaches. Family and friends are invited to a remembrance viewing on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 5-7 P.M. at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Funeral Services will be Friday October 25, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens at 1:30 P.M. in Jasper, AL. Roderick Williams and Jim Minyard officiating.
