

Jack William Bruce October 29, 1931 – March 28, 2013 Jack William Bruce, 81, of Hoover, Alabama passed away Thursday, March 28 2013 at his home after an nine year battle with Parkinson’s. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 29, 1931. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl C. Bruce, mother Sarah Carolyn Wilkes Bruce and a brother, Robert E. Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Townsend Bruce, brothers Earl C. Bruce Jr., Raymond D. Bruce, and Jerry A. Bruce, and children Lyris Newman (Eric), Elaine Wiseman, Gwyneth Hill (Hamilton), Jack W. Bruce Jr. (Julie), and Ronald K. Bruce (Trina), 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Bruce was a lifelong member of the Westside/Vestavia Alliance Church. He was a printer and the owner of Bruce Graphics and Bruce Printing. For over 50 years he served as the Music Director for his church. He was also a past president of the Oxmoor Rotary, Board Member for the World Wide Tract Ministry and an avid supporter of world missions through the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA). For six years he served as the President of the Southern District Alliance Men. Mr. Bruce was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed nothing more than the gathering of his family at their home and on the beach or mountains. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Hoover on Monday, April 1 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A memorial service will follow at the church at 1 PM. Graveside services will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
