Jacob “Jake” Thomas Seitz, age 33, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on November 3, 2020. Jake was a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he played football and served as a graduate assistant coach, and later as an offensive analyst. Jake’s collegiate football career included a school-record 48 consecutive starts, being named all-conference center, and he was often called the “Ironman of the Southside.” He was also an accomplished wrestler, being a two-time AHSAA state heavyweight champion and Alabama’s first Fargo All American. Jake is survived by his parents, Paul and Dianne Seitz; his twin brother, Jay Andrew “Andy” Seitz (Anna); his sister, Jamie Seitz Black (James); half-brothers, Craig Seitz and David Seitz (Kim); and a myriad of other family and friends on whom he left an indelible mark. A private graveside ceremony will be held on November 8, 2020, at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Boston University Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center at https://trusted.bu.edu/s/1759/2-bu/giving/interior.aspx?sid=1759&gid=2&pgid=422&cid=1060&dids=114&appealcode=WEBMED-DV&bledit=1
