COTTON, JAMES HARVEY, age 64, was called home to Heaven on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born, raised, and spent nearly all of his life in Normal, Illinois. He retired from State Farm, in Bloomington, IL in June 2014 before moving to Birmingham in April 2015 to spend time with his two sons and their families. Jim was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He was an avid golfer before his illness, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had quite a sweet tooth and always had a pantry full of sweets to share with them when they visited. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Virginia Cotton; and granddaughter, Emily Faith Cotton. Jim leaves behind two sons, James Harvey Cotton, Jr. (Amy) and Jonathon Daniel Cotton (Joanna), who faithfully and lovingly cared for him in his last months. He was a proud PawPaw to Mason Gregory, Nora Grace, Elizabeth Joy and Allison Brooke. He is also survived by two brothers, Ed and Larry; and sister, Patricia. The family will receive visitors at Argo Christian Fellowship in Argo, AL on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 1-2 with his service beginning at 2 PM with Pastor Jerry Mahner officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
