Janice Ruth Shropshire, a beloved native of Birmingham, peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by her family on February 27, 2024 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at the age of 71. Janice was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever linger in our hearts.
A dedicated professional accountant, Janice devoted 42 years of her life to South Central Bell/BellSouth/AT&T, retiring in 2018. Janice’s fastidious and methodical nature lent itself perfectly to her work and those who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Janice's true passion lay in the love she showered upon her nieces that were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into nurturing and guiding them through life's journey. Though never a mother in her own right, she was the most devoted and attentive Mom to her cherished dogs Freddie and Baby Girl.
In her leisure time, Janice found solace in the simple pleasures of life. Whether engrossed in a good book, creating beautiful pieces through sewing, or expressing her creativity through macramé, she always found joy in the artistry of living.
Janice was preceded in death by her mother and father, Niven ‘Bill’ Shropshire & Minnie Lou (McElroy) Shropshire, her sister, Glenda Carol Buxton, and her niece, Lori Denise Buxton. She is now reunited with her family in the presence of the Lord.
Janice's memory is carried on by her surviving brother, Dennis Buxton (Kimberly, AL), nieces, Kristi (Craig) Boggs (Murfreesboro, TN), Jennifer (Neal) Eady (Kimberly, AL), great-nieces and nephews, Caleb and Pearson Posey, Blake Buxton and Allaina and Kaley Boggs. The family also would like to recognize Margie and Bill Findlay, Deborah McClain and Caprishia Dansberry for their devoted love and care.
Janice Shropshire's departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear. She will always be remembered for her kindness, and unwavering love.
A memorial service to celebrate Janice's life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at Elmwood Chapel with burial in the historic Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Caregiver Action Network. https://caregiveraction.networkforgood.com/
May Janice rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she brought to those privileged enough to have known her.
