Hunter, Gussie Jeanette, Age 93 of Pinson, Alabama died on July 13, 2013. She was born on October 30, 1920, and was preceded in death by her parents James and Macilda Marsh; her brothers Homer and Herbert Marsh; her sister Bonnie Bedgood; as well as her husband James W. Hunter, Sr. A long time resident of Pinson, Mrs. Hunter was regarded by all who knew her as a kind hearted, loving, and exceptionally generous woman who was always quick to sacrifice her needs to serve the needs of others in her immediate and extended family as well as throughout the community at large. As a pioneering and prominent business owner in Trussville for many decades, her influence could be seen and felt throughout many aspects of civic life - ranging from such would-be male dominated organizations as the Trussville Chamber of Commerce to community oriented women's interest groups such as The Lazy Daisy Garden Club. As a gifted gospel singer and soloist her ministry of song was frequently on display throughout the Southeastern United States as she traveled with her parents and siblings as a featured performer at large scale gospel singings and church gatherings; as well as in her local church choir at Pinson United Methodist Church, where she was a member for over 70 years. As a wife, she was a faithful and loving companion to her husband James for almost 50 years until his passing in November of 1990. And as a mother and grandmother her legacy of unconditional love and devoted support gratefully and graciously lives on in the hearts of her son James W. "Bill" Hunter, Jr. and his wife Robin Hunter; and her two grandchildren Cheri and Jeffrey Hunter who survive, Mrs. Hunter, along with her brother James "Junior" Marsh, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Pinson United Methodist Church this Tuesday, July 16th 2013 to both remember and celebrate the extraordinary life of Gussie Jeanette Hunter. The viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary, followed immediately by the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to extend a warm welcome for all who knew and loved her to attend this special service to honor her memory.
