

JIMMY PAUL GRAVES, age 86 of Birmingham, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 16, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. E.W. Graves and Avis Thompson Graves; siblings, Norma Cremer and husband, T.R., Bill Graves and wife, Iva Graves, and Alfred E. Graves; and son-in-law, Ronnie Whitten. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Imagene Lawrence Graves; children, Kerry Paul Graves (Cindy), Jon Randal Graves (Vicky) and Toni Rene Graves Whitten; grandchildren, Jennifer Graves Wheeler (Jason), Jonathan Graves (Erin), Steven Whitten (Denise), Jamie Graves, Jackson Whitten, Alex Graves and Crystal Graves; great-grandchildren, Noah Graves, Jacob Graves, Justin Wheeler, Jadon Wheeler, Andrew Palmer, Joshua Palmer, Isabel Whitten and Jonah Palmer; and nieces, Patty Bischoff, Karan Cremer and Sandra Bowling. Jimmy was born January 21, 1935 and raised in Lamar County where he developed a lifelong love of hunting, fishing and sports and was known as “Airplane”. He retired from Hayes/PEMCO after 62 years of service and was known as “Colonel” by all who worked there. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. His family will celebrate his life with visitation on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 5-6 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with his service beginning at 6:00 PM. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Union Chapel Cemetery in Vernon, AL beginning at 1:00 PM.
