
Joe Bruce Morrison, son of the late Joe and Ruth Morrison, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 17, 2015 in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Edith Morrison, sisters Nellie Serio and Eunice Heath, brother Ernest Morrison and adopted brother Perry Morrison. Joe Morrison served bravely in World War II as a sergeant in the Second Armored Division, under the command of General George Patton. Following the war, he and his wife Edith raised two sons. Joe worked as a Master Electrician for the City of Birmingham for 40 years. He retired in 1986. In recent years, Joe was a member of Chalkville Baptist Church. Before that, he was a deacon at 50th Street Baptist Church in Woodlawn and 4th Avenue Baptist Church in East Lake. A Sunday School Class was named in his honor. He enjoyed singing in the choir and generously gave of his time and talents. Joe Morrison is survived by two sons, Michael Morrison (wife Linda) of Adamsville, Alabama and Terry Morrison (wife Mary) of Augusta, Georgia. Joe is also survived by four grandsons and one granddaughter. The grandsons are Greg Morrison (wife Brooke) of Cullman, Alabama, David Morrison (wife Jennifer) of Adamsville, Alabama, Eric Morrison, also of Adamsville, and Matthew Morrison (wife Laurie) of North Augusta, South Carolina. His granddaughter is Jeannie Morrison Williams of Augusta, Georgia. Joe is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. Joe Morrison will be remembered as a kind and loving family man who served the Lord with gladness. He will be missed. A special thank you to his caregiver, Martha Henson for her invaluable service during the last ten months. The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Thursday at 10 o'clock. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 11 o'clock, followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
