JOHNNY ROLAND WOOD, age 73 of Birmingham, AL was called to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 14, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Marvin and Willa Dee Wood; and brother, Jimmy Wood. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda H. Wood; children, J. Eric Wood, Erin Levine (Tony) and Emily Wood; brother, Eddy Wood (Joan); grandchildren, Benjamin Levine, Asher Levine, Willa Levine and Eli Levine; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.

Johnny was born in Tarrant City, Alabama, to Marvin and Dee Wood. He grew up with his two brothers, Jimmy and Eddy, along with a tight-knit crew of childhood friends who became more like family. If you ever spent any time with Johnny, you know how much he loved to share memories from those ‘Tarrant City’ days — and oh, “all the stories he could tell”! Saturdays were some of Johnny’s favorite days, especially when he was out on the golf course. Whether he was playing with old friends he’d known for decades or new friends he met along the way, he cherished the game just as much as the laughter and camaraderie that came with it. After graduating from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Johnny built a successful 37-year career in Refractory Sales. But more than the work itself, it was the lifelong friendships he gained with his colleagues that meant the most to him. Johnny never met a stranger and never forgot a name. He had a way of connecting with people wherever he went, and he truly enjoyed meeting and talking with everyone! Above all, Johnny’s greatest joy was his family. He adored his children and was so proud of the lives they built. Becoming a grandfather was one of his greatest blessings, and nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life! Be it at the lake or in Houston with them!

His family will celebrate his life with visitation from 1-2 on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with his service beginning at 2:00.
