Kathleen Williams Rouveyrol, known to most as Joyce, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023 at the age of 98. She was born in Carbon Hill, AL on January 10, 1925 to Albert and Mary Stringer Williams. She met her husband, Henry August Rouveyrol, when he received a war correspondence letter she wrote as an outreach program for soldiers during WWII. They were married on June 4, 1949 and enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage during which they raised two children, Julia Rouveyrol Daugherty and John Rouveyrol.
Joyce was a devoted wife, a loving mother, an incredibly fun grandmother, and an adoring great grandmother. She loved The Lord, her family, her church (Dawson Memorial Baptist Church), her Bible study group (The Dawson Dutch), and her friends (especially her best friend, Faye “MiMi” Williams). She liked to cook (and eat). She had a true servant’s heart and an amazing sense of humor.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings (Frankie Williams Hagler, Jemima Williams Bailey, Sue Williams Logan, and Cecil Williams), and her husband. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren (Dawn Daugherty Skelton, Shawn Daugherty and his wife, Allie Daugherty), and her great grandchildren (Henry Tildon Skelton, Avery Joyce Daugherty, Jackson Rutledge Skelton, and James Marshall Daugherty). She will be greatly missed by each of them.
Services will be held at Elmwood Chapel on Sunday, May 7th, 2023 at 2:00 with visitation directly preceding at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church.
The family would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Enhabit Hospice and Pastor Bill Johnston for the love, support, and kindness they have provided.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsridoutselmwoodchapel.com for the Rouveyrol family.
