Leon C. Dean, Jr., age 84 of Birmingham passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015. Leon graduated from Gadsden High School and then Auburn University in 1954. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Auburn and served in the US Army. Leon also was a member of Shades Valley Masonic Lodge #829 and the Zamora Shrine Temple. His first wife of 50 years, Peggy Davis Dean preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Ollie Vowell Dean; daughter, Deia Dean Fish; grandchildren: Rachel Fish, Michelle Fish and Laura Fish. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2015 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel with burial in Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
