

Elrod, Loia M., age 89 of Trussville passed away Monday, June 4, 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will be greatly missed by her family and church family. She loved to work and spend time in her flower gardens and always volunteered her time for church, hospital and family. Loia retired as personnel manager from the Eastwood K-Mart and was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. After her retirement she enjoyed running into her many customers who had become her good friends. She always kept in contact with her many friends and co-workers thru the years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles M. Elrod; her parents, Mag and Arthur Mayfield; and a sister, Claudia Edwards. She is survived by her loving daughter, Carolyn E. “Pinkie” Jones (Jerry N.) of Odenville; a brother, Clay Mayfield (Laura); three sisters, Helen Gann (Robert), Betty Beasley, and Charleston Dalton (Bill); Two grandsons, Chuck Jones (Nikki) and Brad Jones; Four great grandchildren, Carson, Loia Grace, Marlie, and Meagan; Twelve nieces and nephews with their children and grandchildren who were very much loved by her.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 8, 2012 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with visitation from 12 Noon until service time. Burial will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Rev. Bob Shipp will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks to please make donations to the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
