Born December 28, 1920 to the late Lloyd Clinton Morris and Bon Hilda Starr Dyer Morris in Heflin, Alabama, she attended public school in Heflin, Alabama and Talladega, Alabama and earned her nursing degree from Glenn Vocational in the early seventies. Not only was Lorene a lover of books she was also a talented painter.
Lorene worked for thirteen years caring for newborns in the maternity ward nursery of East End Hospital, East Lake, Alabama during the seventies and early eighties. During World War II, Mrs. Cannon worked at Brecon, U.S. Army Ordinance in Talladega, Alabama while her husband served in the U.S. Army at Fort McFarland, Atlanta, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Willis Cannon, whom she married July 6, 1940; and her only sibling, Alyce Morris Chappell Westcott of Eastlake, Alabama.
Surviving are two sons, James Lloyd Cannon of Mountain Brook, Alabama and Willis Allen Cannon of Daphne, Alabama; six grandchildren, Lori Cannon Taylor of Fairfax, VA; Sean Christian Cannon of Weatherford, TX; Kelly Cannon Drake of Alabaster, AL; and Patrick Allen Wolfgang Cannon of Patterson, CA; Jacob Bryan Ridenhour of Tallahassee, FL; Travis Chad Ridenhour, Salisbury, NC; nine Great-grandchildren, Hunter Cannon of Dallas, GA; Katherine Drake of Alabaster, AL; Taylor Drake of Alabaster, AL; Dawson Taylor of Fairfax, VA; Lucy Taylor of Fairfax, VA; Mills Cannon of Weatherford, TX; Christian Cannon of Weatherford, TX; Dylan Ridenhour of Sanford, NC; Logan Ridenhour of Salisbury, NC; along with two nephews, Douglas Chappell of Springville, AL; and Dale Westcott of Memphis, TN.
A celebration of Lorene's life will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Road, on Saturday August 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joe Mills officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery.
