
Marshal Lee Burns was born in Winston County, but lived most of his 88 years in Jefferson County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in the European Theater during WWII. Mr. Burns has been a follower of Christ for most of his life, serving as a deacon and in other capacities, in their churches. He has been a member of Fairview Baptist Church of Birmingham, and more recently, Deerfoot Baptist Church in Trussville. He had retired from Cowin Equipment Company, in Tarant. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Wallace Burns and Annie Mae Clark; brothers, Milford, Ray and James Earl Burns. He is survived by, his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Lennice Weaver Burns; a sister, Inez Northwood of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Wilma; and a host of nieces and nephews, who dearly loved their Uncle Marshall. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Reverend James Long is officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International.
