Mary Ann Nelson, age 93, passed away on January 11, 2025. She was born on March 12, 1931 to James Henry Hunt and Myrtle Rush Hunt. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ralph Lee Nelson, Jr. She is survived by her children, Byron Nelson of Centre, Alabama, Myrna Carpenter of New Orleans, Louisiana, Joel Nelson of Hoover, Alabama; grandchildren, Jessica Sanford, Ashley Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Andrew Carpenter, and Kelly Carpenter; great grandchildren, Marlee Sanford, Beau Sanford, Sheppard Sanford, Elise Carpenter, and Camille Carpenter; sisters, Jane Buckner of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Sara Flack of Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Mary Ann loved her family and lived her life making a good home for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a member of the Centre Church of Christ, and she loved classical music.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 10 am until 11 am at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home; a celebration of Mary Ann’s life will follow at 11 am. She will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.
