Mickey married Vernon T. Hart at Birmingham's St. Paul's Cathedral in 1956. They were blessed with four children, Patsy, Todd, Nancy, and David. In 1969 Vernon unexpectedly passed away leaving behind his loving wife of 13 years and children ages 9, 7, 5, and 3. Mickey honored her husband by devoting her life to continuing to raise their children in the Catholic faith on her own.
After 20 years of working as a secretary to support herself and children, Mickey retired and focused on service to St. Barnabas Catholic Church, of which she had been a member since 1973. Mickey found great purpose serving God as a member of the Ladies' Alter Sodality, Associates of Notre Dame, Food Pantry, calling Bingo at Senior Citizen's luncheons, and preparing care packages for the parish shut ins. She also was very patriotic and loved the American flag.
Mickey is survived by her children Patsy H. Hasenbein (Ed), Todd Hart, Nancy H. McMurry (Fred), and David Hart (Michelle). Mickey also leaves behind her grandchildren Ben McMurry, Thomas McMurry (Chloe), Emily McMurry, Sam McMurry (Meredith), Daniel Hasenbein (Sara), Becca Hasenbein, and Corey Hart, along with four great-grandchildren Charlotte Hasenbein, Addie Hasenbein, Perry McMurry and Nora McMurry, as well as nieces Kay Rhea (Al), and Rosemary Schneider (Allen), and her beloved parakeet and roommate Gloria.
Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Hart, her parents, Roy Britton and Audrey Maum, her step-parents, Winnie Britton and Charles Maum, nephew, Mark Bostick, and her only sibling, Maizie Fernandes.
Mickey's family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Legacy Ridge Assisted Living in Trussville, and the incredible and compassionate staff at UAB's St. Vincent's East Hospital and Compassus Hospice Team.
