

Mitzi Berman Goldstein passed away on March 6, 2026 just a few weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Helen and Robert Berman. Mitzi is survived by her loving daughter Vicki and by Vicki’s long-term partner Clay Bryan as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mitzi attended the University of Alabama where she dated her high school sweetheart, Donald Goldstein Sr. to whom she was married for 62 years until his death in 2015. She was also predeceased by her son Donald Goldstein, Jr. and her sister Ellen Berman Aland. Mitzi’s favorite activity was golf and in her heyday she played as many as five days per week. She and Donald enjoyed going to the Master’s golf tournament each year and watching golf or Alabama football on TV when not out on the links. They also loved their dogs, having at least 5 consecutive Boston Terriers over the years. Mitzi was a dedicated volunteer at Brookwood hospital on Mondays for 15 years. She was a member of Temple Emanu-El, Hillcrest Country Club and its successor Pine Tree Country Club. There will be a Graveside Service on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Elmwood Cemetery at 12:00 pm, followed by a memorial service in the Hess Chapel at Temple Emanu-El on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 1:00 pm, with a shiva meal in Abroms Hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Temple Emanu-El, American Cancer Society, the Birmingham Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
