

Naomi Hawie Kassouf, of Cullman and Birmingham, Alabama, was born on September 3, 1924, and died December 3, 2025 at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Louis Paul Kassouf, her parents, Wadih and Rose Hawie, her brother, Wadih Hawie, Jr., her infant son, Anthony Kassouf and her grandson, Gerald L. Kimes, Jr. Survivors include daughters, Beverly K. Kimes (Gerald, Sr.), Gayle K. Thigpen (Mac) and sons, David P. Kassouf (Jean) and Gerard J. Kassouf (Nazha) all of Birmingham; grandchildren, Monsignor John Paul Kimes, South Bend, Indiana, Michelle K. Campbell (Jason), Aledo, Texas, Catharine M. Kassouf, Michael D. Kassouf (Belinda), Jason G. Kassouf (Lauren), Jonathan G. Kassouf (Mary Rose), Sarah K. Charles (Greg), Douglas S. Stephen (Kerri), Bradley R. Stephen (Katherine) of Birmingham, Alabama and Ashley S. Roach (Freddie) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; granddaughter-in-law, Laura Renno Kimes, Minneapolis, Minnesota and 22 great-grandchildren. Her love was her family and church. Naomi was a lifelong member of Saint Elias Maronite Church and a founding member of the Ladies’ Altar Society. She was honored as a Lady of Papal House. She was also a lifelong member of the Order of St. Sharbel and the National Apostolate of Maronites. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was Mumsie to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and to many others that knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church (836 8th Street South, Birmingham, AL). Funeral liturgy will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by her grandson, Monsignor John Paul Kimes and co-officiant, Rev. Elias Yazbeck. Burial will follow the funeral liturgy at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church.
