God's faithful servant, loving mother and grandmother, Nona B. May, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Born in Birmingham, Alabama to Ethel Ingram Beasley and L. H. Beasley, Sr., she lived, worshipped, and worked in Birmingham, Alabama her entire life. She is pre-deceased by her parents, and her husband Raymond W. May. Left to cherish her memory are her loving son Thomas E. Browne, daughter Cynthia B. Van Horn (Greg), and step-daughter Carol May Monteabaro (Rod); grandchildren Blake and Wes Van Horn, Bridgett Browne Miesner (Travis), Natasha Browne Blanton (Nate); great-grandchildren Connor, Emma, Logan, Kyndall,
and Chloe. She is also survived by her brother L. H. "Sonny" Beasley, Jr., her sister Patricia Beasley Green, and several nephews and nieces. In 2007, illness forced her into early retirement after 50 years of service with the City of Birmingham General Employees' Credit Union, where she proudly served as the Manager and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. Serving her patrons, many of whom she called "friends", brought her great satisfaction. A memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Barnabas Catholic Parish, 7921-1st Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Main Celebrant Rev. Father Bryan Jerabek / Rev. Msgr Eugene O'Connor, Pastor Emeritus participating. The family extends its deepest gratitude to her caregiver, Victoria Craig, St. Vincent's Health System Hospice, and all her doctors and nurses in the Palliative Care unit at St. Vincent's Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to Msgr O'Connor Scholarship Fund, St. Barnabas Catholic School, 7921 First Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35206.
