Paul Allen Couch passed away on August 17, 2021. His father, mother, brother, and two daughters preceded him in death. Paul leaves his loving family to mourn his loss: wife, children and spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a sister, two nieces, two nephews, and many cousins.
Paul proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and Reserve as a Gunnery Sgt. He was a police officer for the City of Mountain Brook, a deputy, Sgt. Detective, and Chief of the Training Academy for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Paul was a 3rd degree black belt and instructor in World Oyama Karate and later, Sensei in Shikendo (Japanese swordsmanship). He attended Ensley High School and was a graduate of UAB with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
A graveside service will be on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11 am at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to either The Alzheimer's Association, The Compassus Living Foundation, or Toys for Tots.
Due to Covid-19, the family requests that safe social distancing be practiced at the service.
