

Peggy Norris Butts, 77, passed away at home on Sunday, September 29th, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur Norris and Sara McDanal Norris. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond Allen Butts, son Michael Allen Butts and daughter Suzanne Butts Borchert; three grandsons, Henry, Jack and James Borchert, and one granddaughter, Taylor Butts. She is also survived by her brothers James A. Norris (Joyce), Frank W. Norris (Patricia) and one sister, Kathryn Norris Brown (Skip); three aunts, Eddie Mae McDanal, Juanita McDanal and Evelyn Norris; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born in Irondale, AL. on May 11th, 1936, she lived in Tampa and Miami, FL for several years as a child, and spent the rest of her life in Irondale, attending Irondale Junior High and Shades Valley High School, graduating with honors in 1954. Peggy was a life-time member of The First Baptist Church of Irondale.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1st at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 2nd at Forest Crest Cemetery in Irondale, Reverend Tommy Sanders officiating. Memorials may be made to The Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Post Office Box 42836, Birmingham, Alabama 35243.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Straughn and the entire staff at the UAB Women’s Center for their care and treatment for the past three years and Southern Care Hospice.
